GLP-1s are well tolerated overall. Side effects tend to be gastric in nature such as nausea, constipation, and heartburn. Most people tolerate the medication just fine, as dosing progresses, side effects tend to fade.
GLP1s are administered once weekly via an injection into subcutaneous (fat tissue), and safely titrated every 4 weeks by a medical professional. We teach patients how to safely self administer this medication at home.
Once you reach your weight loss goals, it is possible to maintain your weight loss on your own. Your stomach will have shrunk and the goal is ultimately to have your eating habits change. So with a conscious effort, and with support and guidance from us, you can successfully maintain your weight loss.
Those who have struggled with weight issues for years will often choose to stay on the medication long term. If you choose the long term option, the fee schedule will change in order to make staying on the medication long term a financially reasonable option.
The medication works by forcing you to eat less. When you eat less, you lose weight, similar to a “diet”.
Unlike a “diet”, this medication takes over the daily thought process involved in dieting and stops the feelings of hunger and deprivation common with a decrease in calorie intake. This allows you to stick with a low calorie intake for an indefinite amount of time resulting in weight loss success.
This medication helps to significantly reduce your calorie intake without leaving you feeling hungry or deprived. During the course of your treatment, we will guide you on personalized, realistic and sustainable lifestyle changes to improve your weight loss as well as your overall health. It is important to incorporate lifestyle changes while taking this medication so that when you stop, the weight stays off.
We recommend adding in a simple strength training routine, such as bodyweight exercises or resistance training, which is an excellent way to preserve muscle mass, boost your metabolism, and improve your overall mental and physical health.
Unfortunately, GLP-1medications are very expensive and most insurances will not cover them. Luckily, we are able to offer the compounded medication at a much more affordable price and have the medicine shipped directly to you.
